The NPORS Plant Mover course is designed to equip learners with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and competently operate as a Plant Mover in accordance with NPORS standards. This course focuses on the safe movement of plant machinery without engaging in operational tasks such as digging or lifting.
What You'll Learn:
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand your role and legal responsibilities as a plant operator, along with current industry legislation and standards
- Identify key machinery components and controls, and follow manufacturer guidelines using the operator’s manual
- Perform pre-operational safety checks, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and plan for safe movement
- Operate plant machinery safely in forward and reverse across varied terrain, without engaging attachments
- Conduct area checks and identify hazards before moving machinery
- Prepare, transport, and store various attachments (e.g. buckets, forks, breakers) correctly
- Complete end-of-shift shutdown and securing procedures in line with best practice
Training Delivery and Assessment
Training is delivered by experienced instructors who specialise in plant operations, with a strong emphasis on making the course both engaging and informative.
Delivery: Combination of classroom-based theory and practical hands-on training
Assessment Includes:
- Multiple-choice theory test (25 questions)
- Practical operating test assessed by a qualified NPORS instructor
