What You'll Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand your roles and responsibilities as a crawler operator, including relevant legislation and manufacturer guidelines
- Identify and explain the principal components, controls, and terminology of crawler tractors and dozers
- Perform all necessary pre-use checks and configure the machine for safe site travel and excavation
- Safely manoeuvre the crawler over various terrains, including rough, undulating, and steep ground, as well as confined spaces
- Execute excavation, grading, ramp construction, and stockpile management effectively across different ground conditions
- Identify and manage hazards, including underground and overhead services
- Complete proper shutdown, securing, loading, and unloading procedures following best practice
Training Delivery and Assessment
Training combines practical, hands-on experience with theory tutorials delivered by experienced trainers at accredited facilities.
Assessment consists of:
- Practical observation of machine operation
- Short written answer paper
Successful candidates will earn the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, valid for two years.
