A dozer is a powerful tracked machine equipped with a front-mounted blade designed for pushing, grading, and levelling earth or debris. Unlike wheeled machinery, dozers use tracks to distribute weight evenly, reducing ground pressure and making them ideal for working on soft or uneven terrain.
The NPORS N215 Dozer certification equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively operate a tracked dozer in a variety of work environments.
What You’ll Learn:
Learners will receive comprehensive instruction through a combination of classroom theory and hands-on training exercises. By the end of the course, successful participants will be able to:
- Understand operator responsibilities and apply relevant health and safety legislation to dozer operations
- Identify key components, functions, and controls of a dozer, and perform thorough pre-use inspections and safety checks
- Set up the machine for movement and excavation tasks, and operate it confidently across various ground conditions, including slopes and uneven terrain
- Perform earthmoving operations such as levelling, grading, ramp construction, and stockpiling using best practice methods
- Identify and assess operational hazards, including overhead and underground services
- Follow correct procedures for machine shutdown, securing, and safe loading/unloading for transportation
Certification Options:
Depending on industry and employer requirements, learners will receive either:
- NPORS/CSCS Trained Operator Card – valid for 2 years, with an expectation to achieve the relevant NVQ to upgrade
- NPORS Traditional Operator Card – valid for 3 or 5 years, suitable for non-construction sectors
