The tracked Excavator 360 is a powerful digging machine widely used in heavy construction for working on soft, uneven land and slopes. Its 360-degree rotation capability allows operators to excavate large amounts of material and move them efficiently within the machine’s radius. Operating such a large and critical machine safely requires comprehensive knowledge and skill.

This CPCS A59 certification delivers in-depth understanding of operational and safety requirements for operators handling tracked Excavator 360 machines of 10 tonnes or more. It is aimed at novice plant operators needing practical and theory training and assessment.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand key health & safety legislation related to lifting operations, equipment use, and standard signals (BS7121)
  • Conduct pre-start and running checks, and correctly set up the excavator for site travel and operational duties
  • Travel safely across varied terrain, including slopes and uneven ground, and manoeuvre in confined spaces using both forward and reverse controls
  • Perform excavation tasks accurately, including vertical trenches and square excavations to specified dimensions
  • Load materials into vehicles efficiently and reinstate work areas to their original condition after excavation
  • Safely remove and replace buckets with alternative attachments, and perform lifting, loading, and rotating tasks within the machine’s operational radius
  • Follow shutdown, securing, and transportation procedures, including safe loading and unloading of the excavator on and off transporters
