360 Excavator – NPORS
360 Excavator - NPORS
N202

The Excavator 360 is a powerful machine used in a wide range of heavy construction and earthmoving operations. Sitting on a rotating base, the operator can excavate and move materials across a full 360-degree radius with precision and efficiency. Due to the complexity and size of this equipment, correct training is essential to ensure safe operation and compliance with site regulations.

This NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) certification is designed to equip learners with the practical skills, technical knowledge, and awareness needed to operate the machine safely and competently. Training is fully aligned with industry standards and NPORS accreditation, delivered by experienced trainers in a practical and engaging format.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand your responsibilities as an excavator operator, including relevant health and safety regulations and legal duties
  • Use the manufacturer’s handbook to identify and operate all major machine components, systems, and controls
  • Perform essential safety checks, including pre-use, running, and pre-operational inspections, as well as proper mounting and dismounting procedures
  • Start, manoeuvre, and stop the excavator safely across varied terrain and in confined spaces
  • Carry out excavation, digging, grading, levelling, and contouring tasks to specification in different ground conditions
  • Load and unload materials into transport vehicles or containers safely and efficiently
  • Attach and remove tools or buckets appropriately and understand how to minimise environmental risk during operations
  • Follow proper shutdown, post-operation, and end-of-shift securing procedures

Training Delivery and Assessment

Training is delivered through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises using live equipment. Our accredited and highly experienced NPORS instructors guide learners throughout the course, ensuring understanding and safe performance.

Assessment is carried out via:

  • A practical observation, assessing machine operation and safe practice
  • A written short answer test, assessing theoretical knowledge

Successful candidates will be awarded either:

  • A NPORS/CSCS Trained Operator Card valid for 2 years (for construction route), or
  • A Traditional NPORS Operator Card valid for 3–5 years (non-construction route)

Those pursuing the CSCS route must complete the relevant (S)NVQ within two years to upgrade to a Competent Operator Card.
